Baccarat appears to be a complicated and mysterious game. But it is yet another form of basic card game, which has originated from the European game called ‘chemin de fer’. The game is designed with strict rules. The attractive feature of baccarat that makes playing the game simple is that the players are not required to master the rules of the games and can enjoy their play from the starts.
Baccarat is played with two people namely banker or dealer and the player. Deck of six or eight cards is used in this game. Shuffled cards are located in the box called shoe. The basic rule of baccarat includes offering a chance to each of the player to handle the box. When the player is not sure about how to proceed with the game, the banker will always offer guidance on proceeding with the play. The player is offered with the first chance to handle the shoe and is expected to bet with the bank and similarly the player is free to refuse the chance of handling the shoe.
Value of Ace is counted one and the face cards and ten cards are valued at zero. Other cards from two to nine are worth their actual value. Baccarat is designed with a tricky section called busting hand. When the accumulated value of the cards is a dual digit number, then first digit of the value will be dropped. For instance, when the player draw a pair of nines, which counts to 18 – the first digit ‘1’ is dropped and the value is counted as ‘8’.
Baccarat begins playing with 2 cards dealt by the player and 2 cards dealt by the banker. The game is played with the basic objective that the player should hold 2 cards that count to 9 or close to 9. When the player dealing with 2 cards and counts to 9, the hand is referred natural hand and the state is referred to as an unbeatable stage even if the cards dealt by banker counts 9. The second highest count is 8 and it is also referred to as natural hand.
When both the banker and the player don’t get the natural hand either with count 9 or count 8, the second round will be played by the player. Another card will be drawn by the player when the total of cards is less than or equal to 5. The player’s hand must stand when the total of first two cards counts 6 or more. The rules for the banker are slightly different and when the value of cards counts to 0, 1 or 2, the banker is offered with another chance to draw the card. The process of drawing the cards will be repeated until the banker or player receives the higher count. When the tie occurs, neither the banker nor the player wins the game.
